Olympus Stylus 35mm f2.8 Out of Data Fujifilm Superia 200 Arista C41 Kit

Another image from my Olympus Infinity Stylus, this one showing off its more than capable exposure system.  I did a few different exposures for this image, some with fill flash, some without, but I decided the one without fill flash was the best. If you look closely at the image enlarged, you can see and interesting bokeh effect created but the light passing through the out of focus leaves in the background. The effect is most pronounced in the upper left section of the image.

Plastic Impressionism

Excel Deluxe-I 50mm f6.0 Out of Date Fujifilm Superia 200 Arista C41 Kit - Another image from the Excel Deluxe-I, showing the unique qualities of the plastic 50mm f6.0 lens. Some of the images have an almost "Impressionist" feel, nice when you are trying to elevate common objects and make them compiling images.

Plastic Fantastic - Chair

Excel Deluxe-I 50mm f6.0 Out of Date Fujifilm Superia 200 Arista C41 Kit - A plastic chair shot with a plastic camera, seemed like a fitting subject for the first post from this camera. The Deluxe-I has some interesting qualities. The uncoated plastic lens has a nice combination of distortion, "unsharpness" and chromatic aberration, giving the images a unique feel. Some notes on shooting with this camera. The viewfinder is inaccurate, there is parallax, even at distances greater than 4 feet. Leaving ample room for cropping on any shot is a must. Close focus distance seems to be a little over 3 feet, in bright sun, stopping all the way down to "Sunny" gets you a little closer, but 4 feet and beyond is a good bet for the sharpest possible images (in this case "sharp" is a relative term). Advancing the film too quickly seems to case mis-framing. I suspect the camera back does not exert enough pressure over the feed sprockets allow the sprockets to skip. Overall I am pleased with the results. The Excel Deluxe-I makes and excellent Lomographic camera.

Nikon One-Touch L35AF2 Nikon 35mm f2.8 Fujifilm Superia 200 Arista C-41 - From the first roll through my Thrift Store treasure Nikon One-Touch L35AF2. The quality of the Nikon 35mm f2.8 is clearly evident, great sharpness and just the right amount of contrast for the Nikon "snap." The One-Touch will definitely go into my arsenal as a day to day carry camera.

Shy Widow

Nikon 8008s Micro-Nikkor 55mm f2.8 Fujifilm Superia 200 Arista C41 - Spiders have always been one of my favorite subjects, with Black Widows topping the list. I tend to shoot digital when hunting spiders as the ability to fire off a lot of exposures to get the perfect shot is definitely a plus. I spent about an hour trying to lure this shy beauty out with the promise of black beetles before she finally popped out long enough for me to capture this one frame.

Autumn in Lynchburg VA through the Eye of a Lomokino

Lomography Society Lomokimo Fujifilm Superia 200 Arista C-41 - Just a quick short from my Lomography Society Lomokino. The leaves are at peak color here and this is the view from my back porch. Hand holding the Lomokino leads to very jumpy images as it has hand cranked. This is only my third roll with this camera so I am still perfecting my scanning work flow. This short film is made up of 144 individual frames and scanner separately, very time consuming.

Lomokino Snow 02-20-2012

Lomokino FujiFilm Superia 200 Arista C-41 Kit - Finally snow in Lynchburg Virginia. It has been an usually warm and dry winter here, good for the gas bill, bad for snow lovers like me. Good chance to break out the Lomokino. I love the vintage home move look. At 4 frames a second there is a flip book quality to the movies when assembled. More on the Lomokino Here.

Bell+Howell BF35 35mm f7.7 FUJIFILM Superia 200 CA135 - Obviously infinity focus was not the goal on this "focus free" camera. It seems to be best between 5 to 12 feet, but even that varies. This is the wrecked bridge to The Treasure Island Camp on the James River in Lynchburg VA.

Autumn in Lynchburg

Canon Canonet QL17 G-III 40mm f1.7 FUJIFILM Superia 200 CA135- Autumn is hitting is stride in Lynchburg, Virginia.  A walk in Riverside part overlooking looking the James River yielded this shot. I love shooting with rangefinders like the Canonet.

Scanning Film

Nikon 8008 55mm Micro Nikkor f2.8 AIS FUJI Superia 200 Arista C-41 Kit - Scanning film is an art I am still working to master. This is scanned in a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III using Silverfast SE plus software. Dust us still the enemy as it is with printing, but even more so for scanning. The Dual Scan III does not have Digital ICE like my Epson V500 does but the dust and scratch removal software in Silverfast seems to be excellent.
