Fujifilm GA645Zi Fujinon 55-90 f4.5/6.9 Fujifilm Acros 100 Arista 76 1:1 - A Lynchburg land mark for more years then must people remember, the "T-Room" as it is known, specializes in Chili and Hamburgers and serves up some of the best hang over food in town. Their trademark burger is the Cheesy Western, a cheese burger with Chili topped with a fried egg. The decor is classic 1950's lunch counter, with a sprinkling of greasy spoon, but do not let the rough edges keep you away. The Texas in a classic American Burger joint in the best sense of the genre.

Nature Fights Back...

Kodak Retina IIIS Schneider Retina-Curtagon 35mm f2.8 Orwo UN54 Arista-76 Stock - Nature is slowly reclaiming an old house undergoing a stalled restoration. Vines have nearly consumed the entire left side of the structure, and the once manicured bushes are now blocking the front door. This has all taken place in less then two years, and our very wet Spring is just speeding the take over.

Kodak Retina IIIS Schneider Retina-Curtagon 35mm f2.8 Orwo UN54 Arista-76 Stock - My first experience with photography was using my Father's Kodak Retina IIIS. A gorgeous German made 35mm rangefinder that kicked off not only my life long love of photographer, but also my undying love for rangefinder cameras. Sadly, the shutter in that Retina broke several years ago, so I have been unable to use my first love. Recently I tracked down a replacement on ebay, and this is fruit from my first test roll. The optics are as good as I remembered, crisp with perfect contrast. More to come from this camera.

Nikon FE2 Micro-Nikkor 55mm f2.8 Orwo UN54 Arista 76 - This American Funnel Spider has occupied a corner of my bedroom window for over a year. This summer she seems to have double in size. Her body is just over and inch long and with her legs she measures just over 3 inches. A thin layer of silk is between the spider and the glass of the window I was shooting through, creating and interesting diffused silhouette effect.

Kiev 60 Arsat 80mm f2.8 Fomapan 100 Arista 76 1:1 - More from the lower basin. The old Cola-Cola Bottling Works, with it's recently restored paint. I was tempted to chop down the offensive 1970's streetlight in the foreground for ruining the retro look of this image.

Mamiya 23 Close-Up Exposure no. 8

Mamiya 23 Sekkor 100 mm f2.8 Adox Art CHS 100 Arista 76 1:1 - This shot was done the the Press back extended straight back for close focusing, as seen in example no. 1 here. Light source is single 100w Novatron modeling light coming straight from the left. A silver reflector is on the right to provide a little light in the shadows. The Statue is roughly 8 inches tall.

Adox Golf  Cassar 75mm f4.5 Fomapan 400 Arista 76 1:1 - Spring Hill Cemetery Lynchburg, Virginia. I repaired the pinhole on the bellows of my Adox Golf and needed to test it in daylight. Fomapan 400 is s beautiful film for it's speed and really shines with Arista 76 Developer 1:1. The quality of the Cassar 75mm is also apparent in this shot. I am slowly mastering the uncoupled rangefinder in this camera and the Golf may become my Pocket Medium format rangefinder for choice. That is, unless I track down a Original Mamiya 6 with an "unfogged" Zuiko Lens.

Kiev 60 Arsat 45mm f3.5 Rollei Retro 400s Pulled 2 stops D-76 1:1 - This is more of a test shot than the final product. I have an old refrigerator in my attic studio that I have been trying to work into a shot, my wife has nice legs, so this is the result. Will take another swing at this one soon.

New Years Eve 2012 exposures 6 and 12

Kiev 60 Arsat 80mm f2.8 Efke 100R 120 Arista 76 Stock - Nothing says New Years Eve like a Human Skull on a Goose Neck Stand. Ok, it is is a plastic skull, but it looks real enough. My second roll of Efke 100, this time processed in Arista 76 Developer Stock. Less apparent grain as opposed to Adomal   (Rodinol), with great sharpness and contrast. The experiments continue.

Keiv 60 Arsat 80mm f2.8 Rollei Retro 400s Arista 76 Developer Stock - An old Aquarium bulb and some fast film and lead to interesting results. I love the luck of the Retro 400s film, but am struggling with it's tendency to curl, making scanning difficult.

WZFO Start TLR Euktar 75mm f4.0 Rollei Retro 400s Arista 76 1:1 - Just over the John Lynch Memorial Bridges from Lynchburg VA. the 29 Market is closed and for sale, but makes and interesting subject for testing my new WZFO Start TLR. Made in Poland the Start is a rugged basic Fixed lens Twin Lens Reflex.

Mamiya Press 23 100mm f2.8 FUJIFILM Neopan Acros 100 Arista 76 Developer 1:1 - Same idea different camera. The Press lens has a little less contrast than the Kiev lens, giving the shot an overall softer feel. If that is possible with the subject matter.

Kiev 60 Arsat 80mm f3.5 FUJIFILM Neopan Acros 100 Arista 76 Develop 1:1 - The Skull returns with a Science Fiction flare. 6x6 negative scanned with an Epson V500, using the OEM software.

Large Format no. 1

Grafex Speed Graphic Optar 1.5 f4.7 Kodak T-Max 400 (expired) Arista 76 Developer 1:1 - Sometime around 1995 I bought a 25 Sheet box of 4x5 Kodak T-Max 400, with the intention of using it with the Speed Graphic I bought in the same year. 16 years later I am finally shooting it. Sometimes life gets in the way.  The film held up surprisingly well. The expiration date is 01/1996, but there is minimal base fogging and the sensitivity does not seem to be that fair off. Scanned using a HP ScanJet 5370c.
